Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven sales team leader to lead and manage our sales team.
In this role, you will be responsible for setting and achieving sales goals, training and mentoring team members, and monitoring performance.
You will demonstrate strong people management skills, the ability to develop and maintain relationships, and have a strong understanding of the sales process.
With experience in working in sales you will be able to demonstrate the desired skills, standards and approach expected, working alongside the team to help develop their skills.
Key Tasks
- Develop the team’s performance, offering feedback where necessary.
- Coach the team, encouraging good practice and an agreed consistent approach to sales calls.
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the team to determine where there is opportunity for learning and/or improvement.
- Agree targets for the team and help determine how the team will measure success. Take responsibility for driving achievement of these targets.
- Ensure the team understands what is expected of them by providing the appropriate data. Encourage collaborative team working to maximise performance of the team and the wider business.
- Communicate key messages to the team in a professional manner from the Commercial Director and Business Development Managers. Collaborate with the Business Development Managers on any issues that they need to be aware of, where possible, with a suggested solution to resolve it.
- Hold weekly and monthly meetings with the team with an agenda and actions list.
- Hold monthly 1-2-1 meetings with team members.
- Encourage a positive atmosphere in the team to motivate and encourage through celebrating success, rewards and activities.
- Obtain and utilise information from the CRM to manage performance in the team.
- Analyse the performance data and information from performance discussions and use this to encourage and challenge individuals to improve.
- Develop a close working relationship with the Estimating team.
- Develop close working relationships with the operational team.
- Able to stand in for team members due to holidays or sickness, therefore experience of sales and administration is important.
- A point of contact for customer escalation and queries.

- Experience of working in a sales role and achieving proven results.

Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
- Excellent IT skills, including all Microsoft Office products
- Experience of managing a sales team
- Knowledge of CRM software and Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel in particular)
- Understanding sales performance metrics
- Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills
- Strong communication and team management skills
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience
- Experience of working or selling in construction/building/property industries would be a significant advantage.
- BSc degree in Sales, Business Administration or relevant field.
